Our First Family Post 9/7/07

Welcome to our family's blog. We thought this might be a nice way to keep everyone updated on how things are going here in Virginia Beach, even if we don't have the opportunity to talk to all of the people that matter to us as often as we'd like.

As a recap, we've been here for about 13 months. Chris is working at Joint Forces Command at Norfolk Naval Base in the SJFHQ (Standing Joint Force Headquarters) unit. We've enjoyed a good amount of family time, with Chris going TDY to Qatar last fall for a couple of months and Bahrain this spring for about the same amount of time. I'm working at the Hilltop YMCA running the Aquatics Department, which is a great opportunity right now, as Patrick comes with me a few days a week, I have several "leadership challenges" and I have the great opportunity to do a lot with Patrick while working part-time.

Patrick turned 2 earlier this week and the doctor announced him to be "a perfectly delightful child" at his check up. (As if this was news to us???!!!) He's finally starting to creep up on the scales and is nearly in the 50th percentile--not bad for such a skinny baby! His vocabulary is great and we regularly comment on how he just cracks us up!

Chris and I recently returned from 10 days in Ireland--what a treat. We had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling and sightseeing during our visit. We've hiked up Croagh Patrick, the Holy Mountain where St. Patrick banished the snakes from Ireland. We met some new friends in Dublin, some old friends in Galway, and enjoyed several days with family in Schull. We're already planning our next trip since we didn't have time for all the places we wanted to see.

Other than that, Chris has started his MBA and is awaiting news of a pending TDY to Bahrain for October-December. We're enjoying a lot of good beach time, zoo time, and park time, so life is, simply put, good!

Please don't hesitate to drop us a line or a call if you are in town. We'd love to see you, and I'll try to post here regularly so you'll know how things are on our end. YOUR turn...let us know how you are doing!!
Love, Meg (and Chris and Patrick, of course!!)

What a delight to to hear from you & how your family is doing! Ryan and I are in Los Angeles where Ryan is the CO of a recruiting station. We love the CA sunshine & recruiting is a tough job to hold, but we're making the best of what we were given :).

I am expecting! My due date is Feb. 18 and we will be finding out the baby's gender in a few weeks! We are thrilled about becoming parents and feel truly blessed to be doing so well.

I can't believe Patrick is 2!! It seems like just a few months ago we were baby shopping for you.

Take care and keep in touch :).
